Papua New Guinea – Tairora
The Tairora coffee is a result of a liaison between smallholder communities. The estate is owned and run by the Colbran family, based in Papua New Guinea’s Eastern Highlands. They offer extensive outreach, pre-finance and technical support to their suppliers in order to secure the best fruit in region.
Without the means to organize all the smallholders into a cooperative, the Tairora coffee shows it is possible to bundle forces into cooperation and to increase quality to obtain a better price in a difficult and complex environment.
